Fall (Autumn)
Flowers
In Australia: March,
April, May
Autumn blooms
of big full many petalled garden grown (as opposed to the
greenhouse type) ‘David Austin’ style roses are something every
rose lover and gardener dreams of.
Roses are still the number one choice
for brides, and with every colour except true blue available,
the choices are awesome! In grandma’s day roses were only
available from mid spring to mid autumn, with today’s
technology we have an amazing choice all year , if not with
local grown then with roses from Holland, Zimbabwe, Chile,
Columbia, South Africa and many other countries.
Other Autumn Flowers include, Calla lilies in the wonderful
autumn shades of bronze gold, cream, burgundy and yellow, these
long lasting beauties are so suitable for any style of bouquet
and team well with roses, berries and interesting foliages.
Gerberas, in mini, standard and large size blooms, the
colour range is huge, only excluding blue and true purple, also
with bi colours., on their own or in mixed bouquets.
Gloriosa lilies, these glorious red and yellow lilies with
their recurved petals are so exotic they are breathtaking.
The Oriental, Asiatic and November lilies are also available
now.
Gypsophila , better known as ‘Baby’s Breath’ with masses of
dainty white or palest pink florets create an airy effect.
Slipper orchids, in late autumn, mostly in shades of green
yellow and brownish red, these orchids are quite unique.
Carnations are always available and with the new
introductions of modern colours such as lime green and deep
purple should not be overlooked for choice.
Banksia, for those with a love of Australian native flowers
there are always some vareieties of banksias around.
Leucadendrons , teaming so well with their native cousins
the colour range is green, yellow, bright to very dark red,
these are almost invincible blooms.
