Spring Wedding Flowers

Spring in the Northern Hemisphere (USA, Canada, Europe) is during March, April, May; while in the Southern Hemisphere (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and South America) the south Spring is during September, October and November.

Freesias are perfect for a Spring weddingThink of flowers and you automatically think of Spring, although many flowers and flowering shrubs are around in all seasons, including Winter. But the variety and brightness of Spring wedding flowers, which also last through Summer, outshine flowers of other seasons.

The most fragrant flowers are out in Spring and many brides like to feature one prominent scent with the other bridal flowers more subdued in their aroma. Just like a woman does not wear more than one fragrance at a time, she tries to steer away from more than one scent in her bridal bouquet.

And wedding guests like to pick up a memorable scent from the bridal party as it sweeps by them in the church or reception.

Scented spring wedding flowers ideal for bridal bouquets are jasmine, freesias and gardenias. But there should only be one of those aromatic blooms in each wedding bouquet.

More subtle scents are required for the wedding reception table, as guests will not want to be overpowered by floral aroma as they dine.

The more subtly-scented flowers of apple blossom, gardenias and some roses make wonderful wedding table decorations for that reason – they look good but they are not overpowering.

Also be sure to include more greenery such as Ivy, than you would have in the bridal bouquets.

Brides mostly pick their wedding dates to suit a whole string of reasons – to fit in with the couples' schedules, with their families' preferences, through sentimentality or simply when they can be booked into a reception house if it is a formal wedding.

If brides are particular about the wedding flowers they want, the season will be a major factor in deciding the wedding date.

But the colors of flowers, to complement dresses, is also a major factor, with the meaning of flower names also featuring in reasons brides request certain flowers for their bouquets and reception table decorations.
