Wedding Bouquets for Fall

Wedding bouquets for FallThe fall season might not be the biggest wedding season of them all, but it does offer some very interesting options for your wedding bouquets for fall. In fact, the fall or autumn time is one of the best seasons in terms of interesting additions to your decoral flowers and your autumn wedding bouquet.

With the first chill in the air, you should still have one of those crisp, clear fall days to look forward to and, with a little thought, your wedding flowers will be a perfect foil for the autumn weather.

In this article, we will look at what is in season in terms of fall wedding flowers for your bridal bouquets and other wedding decorations. We will also look at some clever ideas to make your autumn wedding flowers really reflect the season. So, what flowers will be in season?

Of course, fall wedding flowers are the only type where you can get away with using dried flowers and other elements, as we will discuss later, purely because of the nature of the season.

Even if you do, though, there is a good chance you will be wanting to mix the dried wedding flowers with fresh flowers in your displays, either because it is traditional, or because it makes a wonderful contrast.

Knowing what blooms are in season is therefore a great idea.

Chrysanthemums and dahlias make wonderful choices, and because they are available in a wide range of colors, they can work with any wedding theme. On the other hand, marigolds, which are orange, yellow, and red, as well as a variety of interesting color combinations, could be the perfect choice for a truly autumn-themed wedding.

Asters and zinnias are great if you want the more traditional shades of red, pink and white, while statice, in their vibrant, rich purple, are perfect for a blue-hued violet-themed wedding.

Then there are also a wide range of farmed flowers that are available all year round. Roses, tulips and other perennial blooms are great as a base for your autumn wedding flower arrangements, and even dried flowers can successfully be used as a part of your design.

When choosing your fall wedding flowers, you can choose to work with the colors of the season, or to ignore them and stick to a more traditional theme. In my opinion though, the former is infinitely more fun!

Extra Touches

The fabulous thing about fall-themed wedding flowers is that nature provides you with an abundance of extras you can add to the displays. I am talking, of course, about those fabulous autumn leaves.

If you and your florist do decide to make the most of the season, and design your floral decor and bouquet along seasonal lines, make sure that you incorporate those beautiful brown, orange and yellow leaves into your floral design.

In fact, dried leaves can add a beautiful and interesting touch to your wedding flowers... even scattered on the floor, or onto tables. You might even gild the edges of each leaf, or even just a few, with gold paint -- for that extra touch.

You will find, too, that using a few more exotic and different flowers, like proteas, can work amazingly well with more conventional flowers and other design elements in your fall or autumn wedding flowers.

Combined with flowers in shades of rust, orange, white and cream, you will have the perfect fall wedding bouquets and floral displays to complement the perfect fall wedding.

As for centerpieces, this is a great time of year for a harvest-themed wedding.

Add vegetables and fruits to your floral decorations. You could use rustic props like an antique wheelbarrow to hold large flower displays, or consider scented potpourri as a part of your floral decorations. Even spices, like bundled cinnamon sticks, can form a part of a great autumn-themed wedding decor scheme.

So make sure you discuss all these ideas, and more, with your florist when you decide on the floral arrangements for your fall wedding, and especially for your autumn wedding bouquets.
