Wedding Bouquets for Summer

Wedding bouquets for summerWhen it comes to wedding bouquets for summer, this is one time of year that you really can go all out! Think exotic designs, using rich and bright blooms, flowering plants, and some of the best scented options of the year!

Whether you just take advantage of that range of blooms for your summer wedding bouquet, or whether you use these flower ideas as inspiration to create an exotic theme for your wedding, you are sure to have a memorable day, and beautiful wedding flowers!

In this article, we will look at some of the more common, and obscure, summer wedding flowers out there, as well as some great ideas to give your summer wedding bouquet and floral displays a uniqueness that will make your big day all that much more special.

Choose Your Blooms

Of course roses, tulips, and a variety of perennial blooms are options in the summer, but there are plenty of others that are just as interesting, if not more so!

For tall and dramatic table decorations and wedding centerpieces, you cannot beat gladioli, although, if it fits with your theme, delphiniums, with their distinctive blue hue are a fantastic choice too.

Irises, made famous by Van Gogh in his paintings, are another great choice, and snapdragons are another fun and colorful addition to a summer bouquet. Then there are the less well known columbine, which are another colorful and interesting option for summer wedding flowers.

Lilies, of every description, are another popular and beautiful choice for summer wedding flowers. Whether you choose stargazers, calla or any other kind of lily, they can make a fantastic addition to your wedding bouquets for summer, so be sure to consider them.

Last, but certainly not least, think about the large, round gerberas, that come in all the colors of summer. Perfect for a bright and sunshiny summer wedding.

The truth is though, whether you like traditional or exotic flowers, and whether your color scheme is pale and pretty, or bold and exciting, and whether you want a heady scent or a faint perfume drifting through the summer breeze, summer wedding flowers have something for you and can make the perfect wedding bouquet!

Exotic Options

Another great idea that will enhance your summer wedding flowers, and theme in general, is to use living plants as a part of your decor. Whether you choose palms or ferns as greenery, and add some of those exotic blossoms as a colorful accent, or whether you choose flowering plants to form a part of your wedding decor, you can create a beautiful and exotic venue for the event. There is also the added benefit that you will be choosing a 'greener' option in every sense!

Other fun options would be to include unexpected items in your wedding decor. For instance, I once went to an orange-and-white-themed summer wedding and, there on each table, atop a tall wrought-iron stand, were fish bowls containing swimming goldfish. Combined with the crisp white blooms, and the bright orange colors, they were the perfect items to add a feeling of fun to the gathering.

Making the Most of Summer Wedding Flowers

Because there are just so many options when it comes to summer wedding flowers, if you are planning your big day for the warmer months, make sure you speak to your florist and find out all your options for your bridal bouquet as well. Of course, they should be able to give you a list or catalogue of your options in terms of individual blooms, and your florist can advise you about creating a dramatic design.

Summer is also one time of the year when you can get away with really strong colors. Think about bright, blood red blooms floating in crystal vases as your wedding centerpieces, or perhaps an all-white arrangement enlivened with the brightest orange or yellow flowers you can think of.

Whatever you do decide for your wedding, make sure that you take advantage of the exuberance of color, the range of forms and the amazing scents that you have to choose from. After all, if you cannot do your wedding bouquet with all the flowers of summer, then there is really no time of the year that you can!
